As Long As I Know Who I AM

“As long as I know who I AM” – This is a phrase that I have become more comfortable saying to myself and to others. I know at face value this may be a simple and digestible phrase. This phrase is not meant to be something that I could simply memorize and regurgitate. It needed to be something that I could feel, something that was natural. I learned that you literally have to be comfortable living in your own skin and also in your mind. You can be your biggest fan or your most demoralizing critic. It took me about 18 years to find the balance between those two things. Trust me, it is not a bad thing at all that it took that long. Most people do not make it to that point in life.
With all of that being said, I do believe there is a point in life where you get to start building “who you are”. I do apologize for the brush of “self-help”. This is a time when you refine your tastes, build on them, and repeat. You get to start curating a museum of what “caught your vibe” and stuck to your ribs in life. I like to think these are tangible and intangible things. Things we get to carry physically, emotionally, and psychologically through life. Some of these can be good, and some of these can be bad.
No matter what it may be, you just stash it away and/or build. One day it will all become a valued resource tool for “you”. You will understand who you were, who you are, who you will be, and how that will forever change. Basically, you live and explore, then you like stuff. From there, you save sh*t and mimic it all. Then you create what you want people to see you or your work as. Click, boom, and ah shit… you stop giving a sh*t! You will begin to realize you are the only person who has to live with you.
It is simple… “As long as I know who I AM.”
